Fiorentina legend Gabriel Batistuta believes Edinson Cavani is among the world’s top three strikers and admits “I envy Francesco Totti.”
The former hitman is now 44 years old and hung up his boots in 2005, but some from his generation are still going strong.
“I envy Totti, because he is still playing football, though of course I’m also happy that he gets to enjoy the sport still,” said Batistuta in a Press conference.
“With him on the field it was so simple, as it just needed a glance for us to understand what had to be done. Playing alongside this version of Totti, I would’ve scored even more goals for Roma.”
Batigol also cast his eye over the latest star names in Serie A.
“Cavani is fantastic and one of the top three strikers in the world at this moment in time. Mario Balotelli is seen as a little ‘crazy’ by journalists, but he also plays great football.
“As for Argentina, Leo Messi is just as important within the squad as Maradona was, but Diego had more charisma.”
