Inter director Marco Fassone believes that his side can still finish in third place come the end of the season.
The Nerazzurri currently sit in fifth place in Serie A, seven points off of Milan in the last remaining Champions League spot.
And the board member has claimed that Wednesday night's victory over Sampdoria can be a springboard for better results.
“The victory over Sampdoria enables us to keep alive the hope of reaching third place,” he told reporters.
“I'm sure that we will fight until the end for a top position.
“The Champions League has to be a primary objective for a club like Inter.
“But at the same time, trying to recover seven points in eight games is not a lot of time.”
