Alessandro Florenzi has left the Italy Under-21 squad to join the senior side ahead of Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier against Malta.
The Roma youngster has been flitting between the two levels of international football and turned 22 last week.
He played for the Azzurrini in last night’s 2-0 friendly victory over Russia, but arrived at the Coverciano training ground this morning to work with Cesare Prandelli’s team.
Florenzi steps in for Roma teammate Daniele De Rossi, who is suspended for Tuesday’s trip to Malta.
Also missing out on Malta is Pablo Daniel Osvaldo, again due to a ban.
