Edinson Cavani broke his eight-game goal drought in a thrilling 3-2 victory over Atalanta and hit back at critics. “I talk on the pitch.”
The Napoli forward hadn’t found the net for eight official matches, but netted twice in today’s crucial win.
“It was important to get back to winning ways, as we did not deserve to be in this difficult moment,” he told Sky Sport Italia.
“Now we must enjoy this victory, which will allow us to work in a more relaxed environment. We are doing well and want to go far.”
There had been reports over the last few days that the reason behind Cavani’s crisis was a possible love triangle.
“My problem was purely down to results. I don’t talk about my private life, as I talk on the pitch,” he replied.
Cavani’s wife gave birth last week to their son in Uruguay.
