Iachini: 'Siena can survive'

Siena are off the foot of the table despite a six-point penalty and Beppe Iachini is confident they can survive if they beat Cagliari in today’s clash.

The Tuscans have been favourites for the drop since starting the season from -6, but are now only two points adrift of safety.

They welcome mid-table Cagliari to the Stadio Franchi at 11.30am GMT, click here for the match preview.

“We will not think about the table or the other teams, as our one and only objective must be to get as many points as possible,” said the Coach.

“That is the only way we can save ourselves. Cagliari are a quality side with a group of players who have been together for years. To beat them, we will need organisation, mentality and concentration.

“The squad is working well and we always want to keep lifting the bar a little higher. Despite the difficulties, we never let our heads drop, reacting with pride and determination.”

Nicola Pozzi and Simone Vergassola are still out injured.

Siena squad for Cagliari: Farelli, Marini, Pegolo; Angelo, Belmonte, Felipe, Grillo, Paci, Rubin, Teixeira, Terlizzi, Uvini; Agra, Bolzoni, Calello, Della Rocca, Mannini, Sestu, Valiani, Verre; Bogdani, Emeghara, Paolucci, Reginaldo, Rosina
