“Inter have great players who in the games that count really bring out their pride,” argued Sampdoria Coach Rossi.

“I was not surprised by their reaction to the first leg, as I expected them to fight back, but I am disappointed at their elimination.

“That was a very difficult and exhausting game on a physical and mental level, but they are used to it, whereas it would’ve been a huge problem for us.”

Cassano put in a splendid performance against Tottenham and he will step back into Marassi amid rumours he could return to Sampdoria next season.

“There has to be respect for the player who has given so much to this club. Our fans will know how to behave when welcoming him.

“Of course I’d love to have Cassano in my squad. He is a very talented player and I like working with those who have quality.”

FantAntonio was frozen out of the Samp squad in October 2010 after a blazing row with President Riccardo Garrone, but they made up last year before the patron passed away.
