The Rossoneri had won the first leg of their Champions League tie 2-0, but were hammered 4-0 at Camp Nou to crash out of the competition.

“We need to put the Barcelona game behind us and straight away focus on Serie A,” he told Milan Channel.

“We must do everything possible to take second place, which is only two points away. We are achieving things that at the start of the season seemed unthinkable. It was a great fightback, but the difficult part comes now.

“There are 10 Finals ahead of us and we have to get as many points as possible to leapfrog Napoli. We need everyone to manage this and it would be an important result for us.”

El Shaarawy did look back over his regrets in Spain, including Giampaolo Pazzini’s injury and Mario Balotelli being cup-tied.

“We earned such a great victory on home turf, then unfortunately Barcelona proved they are the best team in the world.

“Pazzini is injured, but fortunately we have Balotelli back and hope to get a win against Palermo on Sunday.”

The Little Pharaoh posted a picture of Leo Messi’s jersey on Twitter after exchanging it with the World Player of the Year.

“It was very pleasing. Last year he gave me his shorts, but this time I got the shirt. I want to again make it clear we swapped shirts in the locker room, as some doubted the exchange.”
