This weekend Inter mark their 105th anniversary and Javier Zanetti makes his 600th Serie A appearance for the club. “I love Inter unconditionally.”
The club was founded on March 9 1908, so the Nerazzurri wear special patches on their jerseys for tonight’s game with Bologna celebrating the occasion.
It is also a very particular match for Zanetti, as the captain will make his 600th Serie A appearance in an Inter shirt.
“I am proud to be part of this great Inter family,” he told Inter Channel. “There is so much history in 105 years and I think that, regardless of any moment we are going through, you have to love Inter unconditionally. That’s the way I see it and how I feel.”
Zanetti made his debut in a 1-0 home win over Vicenza on August 27 1995 and today completes his sixth century of games.
“It has to be said, 600 is a lot,” confessed the 39-year-old. “I again have to thank Inter for this, as to be captain after so many years is a wonderful responsibility and I wear this armband with great pride.
“I hope we can celebrate both my 600th game and Inter’s anniversary with a victory and a great performance, putting the defeat in London behind us.”
Inter’s Europa League hopes are hanging by a thread after their 3-0 defeat to Tottenham on Thursday.
