The official club website released a statement confirming he had gone under the knife this evening at the Policlinico San Matteo di Pavia.
The operation removed scar tissue from an old left thigh injury that has prevented him from playing for practically the entire campaign.
The 29-year-old managed only 22 minutes of Serie A football this season.
