Palermo chief Maurizio Zamparini and recalled Coach Gian Piero Gasperini believe that they can survive the drop to Serie B.
The Rosanero are bottom of the table and six points adrift of safety after a nightmare campaign at the Barbera.
Gasperini was hired after the Week 3 draw against Cagliari and was recalled this week – just 19 days after he was replaced by Alberto Malesani.
“I’m here to keep the club up and I believe we can do it,” the former Genoa and Inter tactician commented.
“My position was placed into doubt after the lack of feeling between Zamparini and director Pietro Lo Monaco, but I’ve never had any kind of problems with the squad.”
Palermo, who face a tricky away game at Torino this weekend, have gone 12 games without a win in Serie A.
“I called Gasperini back because he already knows the squad and I hope he can do well,” Zamparini noted.
“I believe in survival with him in charge. Malesani is a great guy and an excellent Coach, but he didn’t provide the shake-up that I expected.”
