Giovinco thankful to ‘defender’ Conte

Antonio Conte’s defence of Sebastian Giovinco after he was jeered by some Juventus fans has pleased the player.

The tactician admitted on Sunday that the criticism Giovinco and some of his teammates receive from supporters is unjust.

“Sebastian is happy with his goal and happy with the faith of Conte,” agent Andrea D’Amico told TMW after the 3-0 win over Siena.

“He always aims to give his best for himself and his teammates. And he’s always remained calm.”

Juventus are now seven points clear of a Napoli side who will be in action this evening against Udinese.

“The Bianconeri are having an important season, but they can’t let their guard down with three points on offer for a win,” the representative added.

“Every game needs to be prepared for as if it is a Final – with the determination that Conte has always asked of his side.”

Giovinco, who returned to Juventus after two seasons at Parma, is the club’s joint top scorer in Serie A with seven goals in 24 games. Fabio Quagliarella has seven in 16.

Giovinco is also the club’s top scorer in all competitions thanks to 11 strikes in 34 games.
