Giampaolo Pazzini insists that Milan have proved themselves to be a united side after the 2-0 win over Barcelona.

The Spanish giants arrived at San Siro last night as favourites to progress to the last eight, but they suffered a first leg reverse.

“We’re all delighted,” stated the centre-forward who played given that January signing Mario Balotelli is Cup-tied. “The Coach prepared us well for this game.

“On night’s like tonight, the individual aspect goes to the background. I think you could see that we were a team this evening.

“The fans were fantastic and it was a stupendous evening.”

Milan couldn’t afford to make any mistakes against the Nou Camp outfit and Pazzini insists they didn’t.

“We played a perfect game,” added the summer signing from Inter.

“We did well as we didn’t get impatient and I believe Milan deserved the win. But we know it will be tough in the second leg.”

With the Barcelona tie now archived, Pazzini and his teammates are looking ahead to this weekend’s derby.

“Now we have to get our energy back,” the Italian international added. “We’ll be thinking about Inter from Thursday…”
