Stevan Jovetic broke his goal drought with a marvellous brace against Inter and assures Fiorentina “have always believed in third place.”
The Viola closed to within a point of the Nerazzurri in the table and, pending Lazio’s visit to Siena on Monday night, are only two shy of Lazio and Milan in third.
“We are very happy and I want to thank our fans who supported us throughout a difficult period,” said Jovetic after the 4-1 triumph.
“We really needed this result to shake us up. Now we must immediately focus on Bologna and getting a result there too, as we need to continue like this.
“Tonight I played as a centre-forward, which in general I don’t like as much, but I did pretty well. I scored two goals and am very happy.
“We have always believed in third place, as we continued to play well even when the results were not coming. Tonight’s game shows the important thing is consistency.”
