The 33-year-old Argentine got his studs caught in the turf and badly turned his knee during the 2-0 Europa League win over Cluj on Thursday.

Milito went under the knife at the Policlinico San Matteo in Pavia this afternoon, assisted by Inter chief medic Professor Franco Combi.

The club released a statement confirming the surgery, thanking those who showed support for the star.

Milito suffered lesions to the anterior cruciate ligament, the collateral ligament and the capsule in the left knee.

An initial prognosis is for a six-month lay-off, but it could be extended depending on the capsule situation.
