Cagliari Coach Ivo Pulga has thanked Milan for being “admirably sporting” about the chaotic decision to play at the Is Arenas.
The fixture was moved to the Stadio Olimpico in Turin on Wednesday after the Is Arenas failed security checks, then Cagliari won an emergency appeal to play in their own venue and the authorities lost another legal action to have it played behind closed doors.
“I hope it will prove to be a festival of football,” said Coach Pulga. “If we are playing in Sardinia, it is thanks to the admirably sporting Milan attitude and the fans who made their voices heard.
“The Rossoneri have a formidable and very young front line, but they are to be feared in every area of the pitch. It will be complicated to take them on.
“Massimiliano Allegri is an excellent Coach, but the players are the ones who are on the field and the fact he has a past at Cagliari will not influence anything.”
Radja Nainggolan and Danilo Avelar are suspended, while Nene is injured, so Pulga confirmed 18-year-old “Nicola Murru should play on the right. As for the attack, I’ll choose at the last minute.”
Cagliari squad for Milan: Agazzi, Avramov; Ariaudo, Astori, Del Fabro, Murru, Perico, Pisano, Rossettini; Casarini, Conti, Cossu, Dessena, Ekdal, Eriksson; Ibarbo, Nenè, Pinilla, Sau, Thiago Ribeiro
