Zaccardo couldn’t snub Milan chance

Cristian Zaccardo says he expected to end his career at Parma until Milan made him an offer he couldn’t refuse.

The stopper, who was presented to the media this afternoon, joined the Diavolo during the January transfer window.

“I was happy at Parma and I wasn’t there against my will, but I was then given a chance that I had never been given before,” the 31-year-old commented.

“I thought I would end my career there at Parma, but then Milan came along and I couldn't say no.

“I have put myself on the line, I know that here it will be a lot harder to get a game than at Parma. To come here I sacrificed a year of my contract and I have signed until June 2016.”

Zaccardo, who admitted to being a Milan fan as a kid, could be a valuable addition to boss Massimiliano Allegri given that he has developed into a versatile defender.

“I started my career as a right-back, but over the years I have adapted my game to play in the middle,” he added.

“Everybody wants to play every game. I train hard and I want to be ready for when my time comes.

“I feel very positive, the group of lads are great and the team are very good. I just want to be ready for when the Coach needs me.”
