Napoli sensation Lorenzo Insigne has admitted that he is targeting selection for the 2014 World Cup Finals.

Insigne was given his first full cap by Cesare Prandelli earlier this season, but he has since returned to the Italy Under-21 set-up.

However, Insigne has his eyes on following the likes of Milan’s Stephan El Shaarawy into the Giro Azzurro.

“I’m happy for Stephan, he merits the full national side for what he is doing,” the former Pescara forward told the Corriere dello Sport.

“I’m here with the Under-21s and I’ll give my best for the side as we prepare for the Under-21 European Championship Finals in the summer.

“After that, I’ll be over age, and kind of unemployed…I’ll then have a year to earn a spot for Brazil 2014.”
