Federico Marchetti is back in the Italian international set-up, but the Lazio man knows how difficult it will be to remain.
The goalkeeper, who has not played for his country since the 2010 World Cup Finals, has been included in the party for Wednesday’s Holland friendly.
“Quite a bit of time has passed since I was last selected for the national squad,” the former Cagliari shot-stopper noted. “As a result, I’m very happy and I’m enjoying this moment.
“I, however, am aware of the fact that there are a lot of interesting goalkeepers on the Italian landscape right now.
“In order to make sure that I’m selected in the future I will have to continue playing in the important way that I am doing now.”
Marchetti has replaced Fiorentina’s Emiliano Viviano in the squad where Prandelli regularly selects four custodians.
The other three are Juventus’ Gigi Buffon, Morgan De Sanctis of Napoli and Paris Saint-Germain’s Salvatore Sirigu.
