Roma’s Mattia Destro insists that revenge was not on his mind when he scored against former club Inter on Wednesday.
The striker netted in the 2-1 Coppa Italia semi-final win in Rome to put his side within touching distance of the Final.
“The goal wasn’t revenge,” the 21-year-old commented. “It was just an important strike in an important game.
“The Italian Cup is an objective for us this season. We work hard all week to perform in the Coppa and Serie A.”
The Italian international was signed by Inter as a teenager from Ascoli in 2005. However, he was sold to Genoa in 2010 as part of the deal that saw Andrea Ranocchia head to San Siro.
The centre-forward moved to the capital in the summer after his success at Siena in the 2011-12 campaign.
