Genoa have ruled out the proposed arrivals of Reto Ziegler and Mauro Zarate, but confirmed an offer for Matias Silvestre.
Juventus defender Ziegler, on loan at Lokomotiv Moscow, was targeted before boss Gigi Del Neri was sacked this week.
“Ziegler was like Del Neri’s godson,” Genoa President Enrico Preziosi told Mediaset. “The negotiations for him are thus over.”
The struggling Rossoblu were also being mentioned as a possible destination for out-of-favour Lazio forward Zarate.
“That transfer will not be done,” added the Marassi chief. “Genoa would have only been a big club’s training centre for him.
“He was close, but we didn’t like that condition.”
A switch that could occur this month involves Inter centre-back Silvestre, who has struggled at San Siro since his summer arrival from Palermo.
“I’m still waiting for Inter to give me an answer on Silvestre,” Preziosi commented.
