Lazio defender Luciano Zauri has saved the granddaughter of Juventus legend Zbigniew Boniek from a well in Rome.

La Repubblica have revealed that the Italy international was lowered into the four-metre hole after the seven-year-old girl had fallen in on Sunday evening.

The veteran full-back was lowered into the well on a rope, before pulling the child out to safety.

The girl was then taken to hospital with minor bruises.
