Genoa have officially sacked Gigi Del Neri and are expected to bring in Davide Ballardini.
The reports had been swirling around for several hours after today’s 2-0 home defeat to Catania.

“Genoa CFC announce that Coach Luigi Del Neri has been removed from his post,” read a statement released at 22.14 GMT.
“The club thanks Mr Del Neri, along with his staff of collaborators Conti, D’Angelo and Alimonta for their efforts in this period.”
Del Neri had only been drafted in to replace the fired Gigi De Canio on October 24, but managed two wins, two draws and nine losses.
It is believed Ballardini will be the new Coach, a return to Genoa as he was already on the bench from November 2010 to May 2011.
