Chievo Coach Eugenio Corini has bitterly criticised goalkeeper Stefano Sorrentino for not turning up to training during talks with Palermo. “He really screwed up.”

The shot-stopper has been in advanced negotiations for a transfer to Palermo, but the deal is still up in the air.

“For now there is no news, as the negotiations have hit a brick wall,” declared director of sport Giovanni Sartori.

“There are problems in the talks with Palermo, as we cannot agree on an economic level, nor in terms of counterpart players.”

Coach Corini warned Sorrentino that until a transfer is completed, he must focus on Chievo, as the goalkeeper didn’t turn up to training this week.

“In my view, Sorrentino really screwed up by not showing for training. That didn’t do anything except make everyone’s position even more rigid,” Corini told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“The Sorrentino situation must be shelved now and I hope we can soon reach a definitive solution that keeps everyone happy.”
