Mario Balotelli’s agent and FIGC President Giancarlo Abete have hit back at Milan patron Silvio Berlusconi for calling the Manchester City striker “a bad apple.”

The Rossoneri President and former Italian Prime Minister made the comment during an interview with Antenna 3.

“The human aspect is very important at Milan,” said Berlusconi. “If you place a bad apple in the dressing room then it can infect all of the others.

“Balotelli is someone who I would never accept in the Milan squad.”

His agent Mino Raiola was asked about the statement and retaliated angrily.

“We don’t want to say anything to Berlusconi,” he told Panorama.it.

Federation President Abete stood up for the Manchester City and Italy striker.

“I talk about him as a player for the Nazionale and not in other contexts. Mario has always behaved well with the Azzurri.

“We have a Coach like Cesare Prandelli who has shown himself capable of dealing with the players on the field and off, punishing when necessary or getting the best out of them.”
