Javier Zanetti has admitted that Inter have lost their way following the impressive Week 11 win at Juventus.
The Nerazzurri underlined their title credentials back then by ending the Old Lady’s unbeaten run at 49 Serie A games.
However, the San Siro giants have won just two of their subsequent eight League matches.
“After the win in Turin, we have no longer been compact and there has been a dip in fitness,” the veteran told the Corriere dello Sport.
“We’ve suffered a few injuries too, the substitutes bench has thus become shorter and things haven’t always gone our way.
“But it is now up to us to react and get into the top three and I’m convinced that we will be able to do that.”
Inter lost 3-0 at Udinese on Sunday and they are now two points behind third-placed Napoli and four shy of second-placed Lazio.
“We played well up until their first goal, but that's football – you miss at one end and you're punished at the other,” Zanetti told Inter Channel in another interview. “I don't know how that finished 3-0…
“We're gutted but we need to accept the result and show more belief than ever. We must bounce straight back.
“We'll go again now more convinced than ever that we'll become a top side. We faded towards the end of 2012, but there's still half the season to play.”
