Andrea Consigli has remembered Atalanta’s successful survival efforts during the 2011-12 campaign.

“Last year was a special year,” stated the club’s goalkeeper when asked about 2012. “We were able to stay up thanks to an incredible effort.

“On a sporting level, managing to escape relegation last time out was more satisfying than winning promotion from Serie B.”

The Nerazzurri began the 2011-12 campaign with a six point penalty because of a betting match-fixing investigation.

They eventually finished 12^th in the standings. Without the deduction they would have ended up in ninth.
