Manchester United could be ready to fight it out with Liverpool for the signature of Inter playmaker Wesley Sneijder.
Reports earlier today suggested that Liverpool had made a €10m bid for the Dutch international, but British newspaper The Sun believe that Sir Alex Ferguson is a keen admirer of the 28-year-old and may be willing to splash out on the Nerazzurri man.
The former Real Madrid trequarista has been embroiled in a bitter contract dispute with the club, having refused to sign a new deal with a reduced wage.
Coach Andrea Stramaccioni has since refused to play the midfielder, and could be available at a cut-price in January.
The only stumbling for the move however, could by the player's wage demands. He is currently earning around €200,000 per week at the San Siro club, and it is unclear whether the Premier League side would be willing to match that fee.
