River Plate have publicly confirmed their intention to start talks with Fiorentina for Mati Fernandez. “We’ll do everything to get him.”
The 26-year-old attacking midfielder only joined the Viola six months ago, but has struggled to make an impact.
“If our Coach wants Mati Fernandez, then we’ll do everything to get him,” River Plate Vice-President Omar Solasi told El Mercurio.
“We know and appreciate this player, so we believe he’d be the right man for us. The first contact with Fiorentina could be performed by our President, Daniel Passarella, who is going to Florence for his vacation.”
Chile international Fernandez was signed from Sporting Lisbon for €3m in the summer, but has made only 14 Serie A appearances without a goal in a total 661 minutes of football.
