Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini felt “pained” by their 3-0 home defeat to Fiorentina, as fans staged a protest.
The Rosanero supporters were so irritated by the thumping loss that they abandoned the Stadio Barbera long before the final whistle on Saturday afternoon.
“I am pained by the Rosanero situation, but certain that the future will bring us a happy end to the season,” wrote Zamparini in a statement.
“I wish all the magnificent Palermo fans, even those who protest and complain, a Merry Christmas and a happy new year.
“I am sure the next 12 months will be favourable for the Rosanero colours.”
