Delio Rossi feels he already has “a good idea” on how to revive Sampdoria and faces his past as Lazio come to Marassi this afternoon.
The Coach was drafted in on Monday to replace the sacked Ciro Ferrara and makes his debut in the 14.00 GMT kick-off. Click here for a match preview.
“In all honesty, I think I have a good idea on what’s going on here, but I’d be presumptuous if I thought that I’d understood it all after just four days,” said Rossi.
“We cannot transform the system from one day to the next. I might make a few slight alterations. I don’t expect the team to play entirely the way I’d like against Lazio, but with time we can get there.
“I was given a warm welcome by the players and I hope to be up to the task. I want them to play good football, even if it means making mistakes, as long as it is done with intensity. The squad is psychologically in decent shape. I haven’t seen any cases for Sigmund Freud…”
Lazio are unbeaten in 10 games, but Rossi has confident he can cause an upset.
“I have already faced Lazio in the past. It happens when you work in this business. I remain close to the Biancocelesti, but now in my head there is exclusively Sampdoria and I will certainly be more wrapped up in the emotions of my debut at Marassi.
“I can only thank the fans for their welcome. I haven’t given them anything yet, but I will try to give my all for Sampdoria, breaking every boundary to give good football and the right spirit to this side.”
