The Argentine centre-back has been one of the revelations of the season in Serie A, contributing heavily to Vincenzo Montella's side's fantastic start to the campaign.
But the former Boca Juniors man has conceded that he didn't expect to be so well loved by the supporters.
“I did not expect all this enthusiasm towards me,” he told reporters this afternoon. “I always thought that football was just a game.
“And then I realised that the affection from the fans was real.
“Slowly the fans have gotten to love me and I'm beginning to gain their trust. I'm so glad to have come here.”
