Rossi named new Sampdoria boss

Sampdoria have confirmed that Delio Rossi is their new Coach after they decided to dismiss Ciro Ferrara. They have a new sporting director too.

Ferrara, who was only appointed in the summer, was shown the door on Monday after the 3-1 reverse at Catania this weekend.

Rossi thus returns to the game after he was axed by Fiorentina late last season for his touchline brawl with Adem Ljajic.

Also on Monday, sporting director Pasquale Sensibile left the Marassi outfit after handing in his resignation.

Sensibile has been replaced by Carlo Osti.

Newly promoted Doria, who started the season with a one-point penalty, are 14th in the table – three points above the drop zone.

Rossi will make his debut on the bench this weekend in the home game against Lazio – one of his former clubs.
