Vincenzo Montella hailed “extraordinary” David Pizarro as Fiorentina dominated the Tuscan Derby against Siena.
The Viola won 4-1 against their local rivals and Pizarro, returning from compassionate leave after his sister’s funeral, converted a penalty for an emotional celebration.
“Pizarro is an extraordinary player and a sensitive man who needed the affection of his teammates and fans,” said the Coach.
“Today the side showed it was consistent and we put in a great performance.”
Goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano has been under fire recently and was dropped in favour of Neto.
“The decision was dictated by his fitness levels, as Viviano had a hip problem. Neto proved he can be a first choice goalkeeper and has very quick reactions.”
