Agent of Paris Saint-Germain defender Diego Lugano has admitted that the Uruguay international will leave the club in January.

The 32-year-old has been linked with a move to Napoli over the winter break, and his representative has confirmed that he will depart the French capital, but not necessarily for the Partenopei.

“For now, we have not spoken with Napoli,” Juan Figer told tuttomercatoweb.com. “Nor with any other Italian clubs.

“Our intention is to remain in Europe, and there have been two English clubs and one Spanish club trailing him.

“Diego is the captain of the Uruguay national team and has played brilliantly in the World Cup and the Copa America.

“It would be fascinating to see him in Italy. Lugano has the right qualities to do well in Italy, but for the moment, other options seem more viable.”
