Milan continue to drop hints they’re bidding for Mario Balotelli. “He costs as much as the Mona Lisa? Well, we are art collectors…”

This week agent Mino Raiola warned a deal for SuperMario was extremely difficult, as “he costs as much as the Mona Lisa.”

Vice-President Adriano Galliani spoke to Sky Sport Italia cameras today and was asked about this comment.

“I often talk to Raiola. He goes around with his works of art, but we are collectors…”

Today Italian newspapers stated that Manchester City have set a price tag of either €35m or €40m – equivalent to £28m or £32m.

However, President Silvio Berlusconi arrived for his now traditional weekly motivational session with the squad and gave a different view of events.

“My comment on Balotelli was misinterpreted. He is too expensive and it is no longer the time for certain moves.

“I am worried about Pato, but satisfied that we are climbing back up the Serie A table. Finally we are hanging on to the leading sides.”

Milan also progressed to the last 16 of the Champions League, albeit in second place.

“Whatever opponent we draw will make no difference. We’d like to face a big club, because this Milan becomes great against the great sides.”
