Petkovic: 'Lazio want Maribor win'

Vladimir Petkovic warns that Lazio “will go to win” away to Maribor in the Europa League on Thursday, as they want to secure top spot.

The Biancocelesti have already qualified for the next round of the tournament, but have nine points compared to Tottenham’s seven going into the final game.

“The lads had two days to rest, so there will be a reasonable squad rotation. I want to see a team that competes and wins on Thursday,” the Coach told Lazio Style Radio.

“We are playing against a strong team in Slovenia and Maribor will give everything to win, so we must be ready to take the three points and the top spot in the group. We need to play with intelligence.

“My spirit is always to play good football and go for the victory. So far the team has made progress and has found a certain balance, but we have to still improve and raise the bar further.”

Miroslav Klose is unavailable due to a muscular problem, though “he has assured us it is nothing serious. He knows his own body and stops before he can run into worse problems.”
