Catania Sporting Director Sergio Gasparin has admitted he is delighted with the club's start to the season.
The Elefanti currently sit in sixth position having lost just four of their opening 13 matches, and the board member has praised Coach Rolando Maran for his work since joining in June.
“We are really pleased with the position of the team,” he told Radio Sportiva. “[Previous boss Vincenzo] Montella did well for us last season, but Maran is a more than worthy successor.
“Let's enjoy this early start, and be thankful that it looks like we're going to be safe for another year.”
He also commented on the speculation surrounding Gonzalo Bergessio's future at the club.
“It is too early to say anything,” he said. “But I do not think he'll be leaving in January.”
