Cagliari defender Davide Astori is disappointed by the aftermath of his challenge on Andrea Ranocchia in the 2-2 draw with Inter.
The referee’s decision to not point to the penalty spot infuriated the Nerazzurri and it has become one of the main talking points from the weekend.
“Thank you for the compliments and the insults,” the Italian international wrote on his personal Twitter account.
“If a half-penalty foul hits the front pages of the newspapers then it means that the playing side of the game continues to be in the backdrop. That’s a real shame.
“At this point, maybe I should commit a few more little fouls,” he joked.
Astori’s tweets come on the same day that teammate Radja Nainggolan criticised Inter for their reaction to the incident.
