Palermo would have sacked Gian Piero Gasperini on Sunday had they not beaten Sampdoria, claims Sport Mediaset.
The report suggests that even a draw against Doria would have seen the 3-4-3 tactician replaced by Edy Reja in Sicily.
Palermo, who switched Giuseppe Sannino with Gasperini after the Week 3 draw at Cagliari, eventually won the game 2-0.
The Rosanero, however, have only won two games under the former Genoa and Inter tactician. They have collected just 10 points from the 27 on offer under Gasp.
Reja is available after he resigned as Lazio boss at the end of last season.
Palermo play Bologna this weekend.
