Sampdoria won’t wield axe

Sampdoria insist that they are happy with boss Ciro Ferrara and sporting director Pasquale Sensibile.

The futures of the duo in Genoa have been brought into some doubt after a run of six straight League defeats.

However, speaking with Il Corriere Mercantile, Vice-President Edoardo Garrone is refusing to panic.

“I firmly believe in Sensibile, in Ferrara, in the squad and in all of my collaborators,” Garrone commented.

“This series of negative results isn’t enough to change my mind.

“The criticism of Sensibile is only to be expected because when things don’t go right, there is always a search for a scapegoat.”

There have been reports that the transfer guru could quit Marassi at the end of his contract which expires in June.

“His renewal remains a formality for me,” Garrone explained. “And I have his word that he will remain with us.”

Sampdoria travel to struggling Palermo at the weekend.
