Adriano Galliani warns Milan fans that Alessandro Nesta’s January return is “unthinkable” and has faith in Alexandre Pato.

The Vice-President was at San Siro ahead of today’s 17.00 GMT kick-off against Chievo and spoke about rumours Montreal Impact defender Nesta could spend the MLS close season in Milan.

“It’s unthinkable, despite his quality, that a 37-year-old player could return. A wonderful era has ended and we must begin again helping to grow the youngsters.

“Is Stephan El Shaarawy the best young player in Milan’s history? Let us not forget Paolo Maldini… Stephan is a great player, but we must not put too much pressure on him.

“As for Pato, he didn’t have a single injury in his first two years. Looking at his recent training sessions, he seems to be back to his old self. Here’s hoping!”

Galliani was also asked about the Rossoneri’s ambitious for the current campaign after a disastrous start.

“Third place is a long way away….”
