Francesco Totti is adamant that his struggling Roma side have what it takes to qualify for the Champions League.
The Giallorossi fell to their fourth defeat in 10 games at Parma on Wednesday which leaves them with just 14 points from the 30 on offer so far.
However, the iconic captain is convinced that Roma can still finish the season in third – which is currently eight points away.
“That is now our objective,” he commented after the 3-2 reverse at the Stadio Tardini. “Leaders Juventus can’t be caught, but the Champions League zone is not too ambitious for us.
“We have a great squad, we can do well, even if it is true that there are teams who are playing better than us.
“This season can’t be another transitional one for us.”
Roma finished seventh last term before replacing Luis Enrique with Zdenek Zeman.
“The team is not doing what the Coach wants,” the veteran explained. “We are looking to do the best possible, but now we have to get out of this negative moment.
“We know what Zeman wants, but we are only doing 50 per cent of what he is asking for right now. We have to follow his lead to get out of this.”
Roma entertain Palermo this weekend.
