Gian Piero Gasperini cannot help but feel regret after Palermo “threw away an incredible opportunity” for a 2-2 draw with Milan.

The Sicilians were 2-0 up after 47 minutes, but sat back on their lead and were caught up at the Stadio Barbera this evening.

“We stopped after the second goal. Instead of continuing to attack, we stopped at the edge of our own area without defending or playing,” slammed the Coach.

“We were too passive. We threw away an incredible opportunity. We played so well in the first half and start of the second, so there was the chance to continue thanks to the extra space.

“We should’ve been more aggressive with the defence and the introduction of Bojan between the lines made things difficult for us.”

Massimo Donati had a problem in the warm-up and limped off clutching his thigh after just six minutes.

“He had a problem against Siena and still played the whole game. Over the last few days there were no issues, then he felt it again in the warm-up. We didn’t think there was a danger to the muscle, but he just couldn’t move.

“That’s not the issue, as those few times we did win the ball back, we struggled to push forward. The fear set in.

“We must understand that games finish at the 95th minute. We have wasted too many matches in the final minutes.”
