Serie B club Grosseto have effectively sacked four players who were involved in a car accident this morning, as the driver had been drinking.
The players – Yaw Asante, Marco Crimi, Davis Curiale and Giovanni Formiconi – were in a vehicle that crashed at 5.30am this morning.
Police arrived at the scene and withdrew the licence of the driver, as he failed an alcohol breath test.
Grosseto have frozen the players out with immediate effect and noted they are no longer to be considered part of the club.
“These people call themselves ‘professionals’ only when they have to withdraw their wages,” slammed President Piero Camilli.
