The goalkeeper and Italy captain is struggling with a muscular problem and hopes to recover in time for Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier.
“Gigi is a leader in every sense, technical and charismatic, so we hope he can recover quickly,” said Azzurri teammate Montolivo.
“We need him. Buffon was decisive against Armenia and he’ll do everything possible to be there against Denmark.”
