Petkovic: 'No Lazio rotation'

Vladimir Petkovic has told Lazio there will be no squad rotation for the Europa League crunch match with Maribor.

The Biancocelesti need a boost after the 0-0 draw away to Tottenham, especially as the Slovenians beat Panathinaikos 3-0 in their opener.

“It will not be an easy match,” warned the Coach. “We must play the same way in Serie A and in Europe. It would be stupid to rotate the squad and take for granted a competition we earned a year ago.

“Calling up the first team players might be a risk for some, but it is a calculated risk. I always ponder my choices carefully.

“Are we a little tired? That is normal in a packed schedule, but we are not the only ones. A team needs character in these moments.

“The mind is absolutely crucial in these competitions. There can be moments of difficulty, even ones caused by us. We fell off the boil a little after the two defeats, but then proved we have recovered.”
