UEFA have opened an investigation into Lazio’s supporters after allegations of racist chants from fans during their Europa League game with Tottenham.

There were claims the Aquile ultras aimed racist chants and jeers at Spurs players during last night’s 0-0 draw at White Hart Lane.

“UEFA has opened disciplinary proceedings against S.S. Lazio for the improper conduct of the club's supporters (racist behaviour) during the UEFA Europa League group stage match on Thursday 20 September between Tottenham Hotspur FC and the Italian side,” read a statement.

It is sadly not new for a small group of Lazio fans to be accused of racist chanting both in Italy and Europe.

“UEFA is very active on this kind of situation so and our overall objective is to kick racism out of football,” said Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas.

“I can't point the finger at anyone in any way shape or form tonight because I didn't hear anything. It's for the authorities to follow up in any kind of investigation.”
