Napoli striker Edinson Cavani has hailed teammate Eduardo Vargas after his hat-trick against AIK Solna in the Europa League last night.

The young Chilean broke his duck in spectacular style after eight goalless months in Naples, and Cavani was quick to praise his fellow South American.

“Vargas' hat-trick was very important, it won us the game” El Matador told Radio Marte. “He deserves it.”

Cavani then discussed his own situation, having recently extended his contract with the Vesuviani until 2017.

“My contract renewal? From the first moment, I accepted whatever decision Aurelio Di Laurentiis was going to make.

“This summer I ended up in the eye of the storm. In football, you don't know anything until the last moment.

“I expect everything to last right up until the final moment. But I've never seen myself far from Naples.”

Asked whether he preferred playing with Goran Pandev or recent departure Ezequiel Lavezzi, the Uruguayan was diplomatic.

“I would choose to play with both!”
