They are two of the candidates to go down into Serie B at the end of the season, especially as Siena start from -6 and Samp -1 due to the betting trial.

“It will be a very difficult game against an opponent who I do not consider to be among the contenders for the drop,” said Siena boss Cosmi.

“I like the way Sampdoria have been constructed and really respect the structure of the club. We must use our best qualities on the field, particularly our solidity.

“At last the transfer window is closed, so we can finally focus only on the field with a definitive group of players.

“We have taken in more quality this summer and that can help us. We already got to know Alessandro Rosina in pre-season training, as he is fired up and enthusiastic to be joining us.”

Siena added Genoa striker Ze Eduardo to their side on transfer deadline day, just days after he had been on the verge of a move to Milan.

“Ze Eduardo arrived from Santos a year ago with great credentials, especially as you don’t get to wear that jersey if you’re not a talent. He had a difficult introduction to Serie A, which often happens with foreigners, but his quality is beyond doubt and he has the opportunity to prove that here.”
