Enzo Maresca is ready for his Sampdoria debut and return to Serie A after seven years around Europe. “I can’t wait to get started.”
The midfielder arrived from Malaga for an undisclosed fee on Thursday and could well start tomorrow night’s match with Siena.
“My desire from the start was to begin this adventure. I can’t wait to get started and to put myself at the disposal of the Coach and my teammates,” said the man who’ll wear the Number 6 jersey.
“I am happy to be here and watched Sampdoria’s win over Milan last week. The team got off to a great start, as not everyone can win at San Siro.
“There are many young and talented players here, especially in midfield. My years abroad have helped me to grow and I will try to bring that experience to the others,” said the former Sevilla and Olympiacos man.
“What are our objectives? We want to secure safety and I don’t like taking people for a ride by talking about what could happen in May. Our objective is tomorrow against Siena, as the three points at Milan will only really be worth something if we follow it up.
“Let’s keep our feet on the ground. It will be the first game in front of our home fans and we’ve got everything we need to do well.”
